The bird species reaches a body length of 35 to 38 cm. Its natural range is in tropical rainforests of Brazil, Peru, Guiana States, Trinidad, Venezuela and Colombia. Yellow-fronted Amazons are distinguished by their loud voice and good imitation of ambient sounds. The Yellow-fronted Amazon was first scientifi- cally described in 1788 by the German physician and naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin under the name „Psittacus ochrocephalus“.
