1864 ICONIC PRESS KIT FOR THE APOLLO 11 MISSION 1969 26,7 x 20,5 cm Provenance: Guido Schwarz, Swiss Space Museum Since the launch of the Moon Race in the early 1960s, public interest in space missions was enormous. Astronauts had hero status. And all NASA activity, no matter how technical, was literally absorbed by the general public. The media played an important role in this. They explained to the lay public how the missions worked. NASA‘s press offices published media releases and reference manuals describing the various phases of the missions. The mission that was of course particularly in the public eye was Apollo 11, the first moon landing. The press kit, which gave an overview of the mission, was the communicative centrepiece for the journalists of that time. Offered here is one of these original press kits for the Apollo 11 mission. It is in very good condition. The cover is slightly torn at the staple, but is still attached to the stack. Inside are over 250 pages of diagrams, illustrations and text.
