The authenticity of the work has been confirmed by Joachim Pissarro and Christopher Lloyd, New York, 24.2.2004 (copy of certificate available). The depicted child is probably Ludovic-Rodo Pissarro, the artist's eldest son. The work is a preparatory drawing for the painting 'La petite bonne de campagne' from 1882.
