A LACQUEREDNETSUKE IN FLOWER SHAPE Japan, 19th c. Width 4.5 cm. Relief decoration of peonies (botan) in red, gold and silver on black lacquer (roiro). A metal eyelet on a stylised chrysanthemum blossom serves as himotoshi. Very minor damage. Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, thence by descent. Ein gewundener Drache in ge- rundeter Form eines Manjû-Netsukes und durchbrochen geschnitzt, im Stil von Naitô Toyomasa (1773–1856). Carved and pierced as a coiled dragon to form a manjû in the style of Naitô Toyomasa (1773–1856). Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, thence by descent.
