15 Christo (1935‒2020). The Pont Neuf, Wrapped (Project for Paris). 1985. Sold for CHF 265 000 Results of the Modern and Contemporary Art Auctions on 4 & 5 December 2020 Between Spessart and Paris Studies, preliminary drawings and collages for projects by Christo and Jeanne-Claude have long been sought-after collectors’ items. They not only provide information about the conceptual work of the artist couple, who have since passed away, but with their characteristic aesthetics they are stand-alone works of art. At the same time, they anchor the ephemeral installations in our visual memory. Beginning in 1975, Christo and Jeanne-Claude made plans to cover the Pont Neuf, the oldest surviving bridge over the Seine, which connects the heart of Paris – the Île de la Cité – with both banks of the river. The idea became reality exactly ten years later, in September 1985. © 2021, ProLitteris, Zurich FOR CONSIGNMENTS AND ESTIMATES IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN ART Cyril Koller jara.koller@kollerauctions.com POSTWAR & CONTEMPORARY Silke Stahlschmidt stahlschmidt@kollerauctions.com
