Estimate: CHF 150 000/250 000 From15 to 19 June we will hold our auctions of art from theMiddleAges through the19thcentury, whichwehad to postpone in March due to the coronavirus-related measures. These sales feature artworks of outstand- ing quality from several important private collections. A chest of drawers by the ébéniste François Lieutaud, commissioned by the Margrave of Brandenburg-Ans- bach, Carl-Friedrich-Wilhelm, circa 1728/30, comes from a former courtly collection (ill. 4). A beautiful ex- ample of mechanical furniture from the renowned Ger- man workshop of Abraham and David Roentgen has an ingenious mechanism by which the shaped side table transforms into a complicated secretary desk. Its rich wooden inlays, known as marquetry "à la mosaïque", enjoyed great popularity during the Rococo period of the mid-18th century. A collection of paintings from the Golden Age of Dutch painting in the 17th century comprises masterly land- scapes by Salomon van Ruysdael (ill. 1) and Jan van Goyen, as well as still lifes by Peter de Hooch and Isaac Denies. In addition to this hand-picked selection of Dutchmasters, the oldmasters paintings sale presents one of the earliest fruit still lifes by the Milanese female artist Fede Galizia.
