The highest price achieved was CHF 2.3 million for a late painting by Pablo Picasso. The top price in the Swiss Art auction was realised for a painting by Albert Anker at CHF 1.15 million, followed by Giovanni Giacometti’s large-format view of Maloja with the Hotel Palace, which fetched CHF 600 000. Giacometti’s ‘Accordionist’, an expressive paint- ing fromcirca 1909, sold for CHF 440 000, three Strong results for modern and contemporary art times its lower estimate. The PostWar & Contemporary Art and Modern & Contem- porary Prints auctions also achieved strong results. A composition by Serge Poliakoff from 1965 sold for CHF 255 000, well above its lower estimate, and a particularly attrac- tive and harmonious work on paper by Edu- ardoChillida fetchedCHF 210 000. The total amount sold in the Prints auction was nearly twice the sum of the lower estimates. Our next Modern, Contemporary and Swiss Art auctions will take place in December 2022.
