A few works will be presented in our Zurich aucti- ons this autumn, including a Roman landscape by Gaspar Van Wittel, known as Vanvitelli (1652–1736) in the Old Masters sale on 23 September, and ‘The For- tune Teller’, an important painting by the Geneva artist Wolfgang-Adam Töpffer (1766–1847) in our Swiss Art auction on 2 December. The preview of the Fatio Collection will be held on-site, providing a unique opportunity to visit a very private setting, steeped in history and imbued with the ele- gance of a former time. 7 art blend perfectly with regional paintings and decorative arts, reflecting a Geneva that is both international and understated. Comprising over 450 lots, the collection includes an elegant Régence commode (lot 501), a pair of armchairs stamped No- garet (lot 506), a splendid gilt- wood mirror (lot 511), a Ge- neva Baroque silver coffee pot (lot 713 ), a Louis XVI gold carne t-de-bal (lot 321) and a set of twelve 18 th - cent ury Sèvres porce- la in plates (lot 604). A pair of Chinese Yongzheng porcelain roosters (lot 455) and an early 20 th centu- ry Chinese ink drawing of a dragon (lot 473) are among the most striking Asian pieces. Amagnificent selection of paintings, drawings and miniatu- res, mainly from the French and Italian parts of Switzerland, beautifully dec­ orate each room of the house. A lmost the entire collection will be offe- r ed in a special ‘ibid online only’ auction The patrician residence of the Fatio family, located in an elegant neighbourhood just outside the old city walls, is a perfect example of a Geneva town house. Decorated with care, its interior reflects not only the taste of the six generations who have lived there, but also the typical collecting styles of Genevan families of the past three centuries.
