The necklace, in 18K white gold with a very large Colombian emerald drop of 78.27 ct, impressive for its intense colour, is set with 2263 mas- terfully cut diamonds totalling 53.15 ct. The ensemble is completed with stunning emerald earrings. The har- monious interplay of necklace and ear pendants guar- antees timeless sophistication (ill. 1). From the traditional French house of Van Cleef &Arpels comes the striking ‘Socrate’ rivière necklace in the form of an elegantly curved loop set with numerous beautiful diamonds. The two sparkling flowers ‘en tremblant’ are a modern interpretation of models from the 19th cen- tury. One of the filigree flowers is removable and can be worn as a clip brooch (ill. 4). Another example of a famous name comes from the house of Cartier: a magnificent set from the ‘Entrelacés’ line. The necklace of seven rows of slightly curved boxanddouble-C links issetwithnumeroushigh-qual- ity brilliant-cut diamonds of approx. 38.00 ct. It is accompanied by a bracelet s et with bril- liant-cut diamonds of app rox. 18.00 ct. The iconic ensem- ble is complemented by two double-C earclips (ill. 3).
