02 pre view. 18 1 Flower thrower In 2003, the British graffiti artist Banksy painted a masked young man throwing a projectile in the West Bank. Instead of a Molotov cocktail or a stone, howev- er, the man holds a bouquet of flowers. Banksy ' s polit- ical stance is well known; he regularly installs pacifist statements in areas marked by crises. Copied count- less times by others, the artist himself has also created various new works based on this mural, such as ‘Flow- er Thrower Triptych (grey)’ from 2019. Banksy (1974). His ‘intermedia’ art constantly moves along the flu- id boundaries between design and architecture, pop, high and everyday culture. ‘Touch’ reflects Armleder ' s neo-minimalism, also known as neo-geometry. Against a monochrome silver background, uniform circles line up and fill the canvas, offset against each other. De- pending on the ambient light, the shimmering colour gradient appears to move playfully from pink to white. John M. Armleder (1948). Touch. 2016. Acrylic on canvas. 160 × 225 cm. Estimate: CHF 40 000/50 000 3 Colourful couple After causing a stir at the beginning of her career with paintings, action art and happenings, Catherine ‘Niki’ de Saint Phalle turned to sculpture from 1966 onwards. Her colourfully painted, voluptuously shaped female figures, the unmistakable ‘Nanas’, as well as her bird creatures quickly became famous – not least because many of them can be seen in public spaces. Their visual language celebrates the joy of life with colours, mythical motifs and playful forms. Niki de Saint Phalle (1930–2002). Les patineurs (couple ailé). Painted resin. 49 × 65 cm.
