Important Dates P. 28 Ferdinand Hodler: P. 5 Edition 02/ 2024 Paula Modersohn-Becker, Marianne von Werefkin and Gabriele Münter were three early 20 th -century artists of note. However, as with many other female artists of their time, their works were only recognised and fully appreciated much later. The current social climate has made it possible for the work of contemporary artists such as Sylvie Fleury and Katharina Grosse to be featured and taken seri- ously in exhibitions and publications in their lifetimes. Outstanding works by all five of these artists will be offered in our Impressionist and Modern Art auctions on 21 June and PostWar and Contemporary Art on 20 June (pp. 10 and 16). From 1893 until Ferdinand Hodler ' s death in 1918, he and Cuno Amiet enjoyed a close friendship that was not always free of tension, but always characterised by mutual respect. They owed their financial success to important collectors who acquired their works even before their fame had reached its peak. This triangular relationship between artist, work and patron is exemplified by the portrait of Ferdinand Hodler that Cuno Amiet painted on behalf of the manufacturer and collector Oscar Miller (p. 5). Additional works by both artists are offered in our auction of Swiss art, which also features works by Giovanni and Augusto Giacometti, Félix Vallotton, Adolf Dietrich, Louis Soutter and most of the important Swiss artists of the 19 th century. Our Asian Art auction on 18 June includes two important Japanese screens from the 17 th century alongside high-quality Indian, Tibetan and Chinese artworks (p. 25). One wristwatch that will make collectors ' hearts beat faster is a chronograph with a perpetual calendar by Patek Philippe, manufactured over 70 years ago. The 17 June auction also features watches from renowned brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Söhne and F.P. Journe (p. 22). In our fourth ‘Out of This World’ auction, also on 17 June, you will find rare palaeontological and space collectibles as well as entertainment memorabilia. Once again, an important dinosaur skeleton is featured: a Dryosaurus altus that is over 140 million years old (p. 27). Our jewellery auction on 19 June offers more than 300 items, almost all privately owned (p. 21). Online auctions with collector ' s items at attractive prices round out the auction cycle on 25 and 26 June (p. 28). Auction houses are faced with the challenge that some highly desirable works are consigned in the last few weeks or even days before the catalogue closes, and near the deadline for pre-sale publicity. All the more reason to thank art historian Tilo Richter, who has been responsible for writing the texts in our KOLLERview magazine for six years now. For each issue, under great time pressure, he places many diverse objects in cultural and historical context. I would also like to express our gratitude to all the clientswho place their trust in us with their consignments, enabling us to present a rich offering four times a year that attracts attention far beyond Switzerland ' s borders. Yours, Cyril Koller Dear Reader,
