Estimate: CHF 8 000/12 000 For further information Jewellery Reto Schmidlin & Damian Fürer schmidlin@kollerauctions.com Online catalogues www.kollerauctions.com Following the extraordinary success of our recent jewellery auctions, we will present more than 300 lots of high-quality works in June, including pieces by fa- mous makers such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Chopard. The sale also contains various collections of loose diamonds and sapphires including a 1.21-carat Fancy Intense Purplish Pink diamond (ill. 1). Such nat- ural jewels are extremely rare; only 0.1 % are pink in colour. Tourmalines shimmer in a wide range of colours; no other gemstone occurs in such a wide variety. Clear, transparent tourmalines in this attractive, slightly blue- ish-green colour are precious, unique pieces. Due to its complex chemical structure, tourmaline is the only commercially important gemstone besides garnet that cannot yet be manufactured synthetically. In this elegant necklace with matching bracelet (ill. 2 and 3), the tourmalines have been combined with diamonds of high quality and brilliance, creating a finely balanced contrast of colours and shapes. The eye-catching feature of this exquisite natural pearl and diamond necklace, which was probably made by Cartier around a century ago, is the diamond-set clasp with a dark grey natural saltwater pearl (ill. 5).
