In ‘Nude in the green- ery’ from 1909, Ottilia is still a little girl. Although she died in 1937 at age 33 just a few hours after the birth of her first child, Ottilia remained present in many portraits by her family. This painting was formerly in the impor- tant collection of Richard Kisling. Giovanni Giacometti (1868–1933). Ottilia. 1909. Oil on canvas. 108 × 90 cm. Estimate: CHF 350 000/500 000 1 Engadine mountains Giovanni Giacometti takes the viewer on a journey into the world of Swiss lakes and mountains. An expressive style and bold colour palette lend his painting ‘Lake Sils with Piz Salacina’ a dramatic quality. The omnipresent wind of the Upper Engadine seems to keep everything moving and changing. The picture thus looks like a snapshot before the mood of the landscape changes again in the next moment. Giacometti succeeds in de- picting the existential coexistence of the elements in this rugged mountain world. Giovanni Giacometti (1868–1933). Lake Sils with the Piz Salacina. Oil on canvas on fibreboard. 39.5 × 49.5 cm. Estimate: CHF 100 000/150 000 3 Strawberry enigma Félix Vallotton stages a plate of fresh strawberries like an old master. The pewter jug and the small, loosely draped tablecloth are reminiscent of 17 th century Dutch kitchen still lifes. Vallotton ' s rich red tones, which ap- pear almost supernatural, are remarkable. As so often in his works, there is an enigmatic element. Here the grey background makes it unclear which room is depicted. Félix Vallotton (1865–1925). Plat de fraises. 1921. Oil on canvas. 54 × 65 cm. Estimate: CHF 120 000/180 000 3 2 1
