Sold for CHF 245 000 Review of our September auctions The most important works in the Old Master Paintings auction on 23 September were met with determined international bidding and achieved strong prices, including two auction records: the large-format painting ‘TheOffering to Ceres’ by Dirck van Baburen sold to an international private collector for 1.4 million Swiss francs, and the Allegory of Patience by Giovanni Maria Butteri brought 171 000 francs. Among other highlights, Denijs van Alsloot’s ‘Outdoor feast in Vivier d’Oye’ reached 460 000 francs, and Jacopo da Ponte’s ‘Allegory of Autumn’ rose to 245 000 francs. In the Books & Autographs auction, the rare and classic work ‘Hypnerotomachia Poliphili’ by Francesco Colonna sold for 183 000 francs. A rare Frankenthal porcelain tea and coffee service with chinoiserie decoration after Pillement in the Decorative Arts auction realised just under 98 000 francs, more than ten times its estimate.
