With these voluptuous figures, the artist celebrated the female body while also addressing social issues such as self-confidence and body positivity. The Nanas are not only works of art, but also an expression of strength and independence. Niki de Saint Phalle (1930–2002). Nana Vase. 1984. Painted polyester. 89/150. 47 × 30 × 30 cm. The three parts, which are not visibly con- nected to each other, remain stable on their own, although their arrangement in space seems at first glance to contradict the laws of physics. Max Bill (1908–1994). Einheit aus drei gleichen Zylindern. 1966. Gilt brass. III/IVg. 24 × 45 × 32 cm.
