940* RARE PROTOTYPE SPACE GLOVE FOR THE MARS PROGRAMME Moscow, 2008 Manufactured by NPP Zvezda Orange fabric, black rubber, metal ring 12 × 32 × 12 cm This extremely rare glove was designed by NPP Zvezda in Moscow. It is specially designed to withstand adverse conditions such as extreme temperatures and pressure drops in outer space. The black moulded rubber fingers have shaped knuckles. The glove has stitched black leather on the palm and ridged and stitched orange synthetic fabric at the wrist. A rigid ring of metal at the wrist clasp attaches to the cosmonaut’s suit. If we believe the words of Elon Musk, we will set foot on the red planet as early as the 2030s. Is this the next important step in the exploration of space?
