SCIENTIFICCLASSIFICATION: Order: Saurischia Family: Tyrannosauridae Subfamily: Tyrannosaurinae Genus: Tyrannosaurus Species: rex DIMENSIONS: Length: 11.6m (38 ft.) Height (incl. base): 4.37m (14.3 ft.) Height ( T. rex ): 3.9m (12.8 ft.) Width: 2.65m (8.7 ft.) Skull: 1.4 × 1.2m (4.5 × 3.9 ft.) AGE: Thematerial composited to complete TRX-293 dates to theMaastrichtian age of the LateCretaceous period, roughly 65 – 67million years ago. T. rex was among the last of the dinosaurs extant at the time of the extinction which abruptly ended the Cretaceous period. PLACES OF DISCOVERY: Three dig sites in the Hell Creek and Lance Creek Formations in Montana and Wyoming.
