But many female artists have been lost to history – their works either falsely attrib- uted to male artists in their circle, or simply ignored as being naturally inferior because created by a female hand. Self-determination is still an essential element to pierce society’s long-entrenched prejudices and preconceptions, and the transformation of status from muse to master.
