Review 2025

26 WORKS OF ART & DECORATIVE ARTS Our ‘Furniture’ department, which has existed since the early days of Koller, has evolved and adapted significant- ly over recent decades, in step with changes in the art market. In its early years, auctions of historical furniture from the 18 th and 19 th centuries dom- inated this field. Today, we offer only select and particularly rare pieces of furniture. The focus of the department – now op- erating under the name Works of Art & Decorative Arts – has shifted towards rarities of European craftsmanship, sculpture and refined timepieces, as well as works of art ranging from An- tiquity, the Middle Ages and the Re- naissance through to the Baroque and Rococo periods, and the historicist movements of the 19 th century. We were proud to present the first part of the Arlette and Antony Embden col- lection in autumn 2025. This special chapter is the result of the close rela- tionships that the francophile Pierre Koller maintained for decades with Pa- risian antiques dealers and the French art market. The dealer couple subse- quently decided to consign their col- lection to Koller. We are delighted to be able to offer further highlights from the Embden collection at auction in 2026.
