The amethyst, which owes its magical colour mainly to inclusions of iron and was prized by ancient cultu- res, and is one of the precious stones. It is said that Bacchus, the god of wine, frightened a young girl so much that she turned into crystal - disappointed, the god sighed and when his breath touched the stone, it turned wine-red. The Egyptians, Etruscans and Romans sought crystals for their beauty and healing powers. Rarely, however, are there intact specimens like the geode offered here, with such an abundance of generous gem-quality crystals. CHF 5 000 / 8 000 (€ 4 850 / 7 770) | 103
