AN INK PAINING OF HOTEI BY KINOSHITA TOSHINAGA (1649–1716). Japan, early 18th c. 25.1 × 33.7 cm. Ink on silk. Fine daimyô painting of the god of happiness Hotei, who symbolises contentment and bliss. Signed Toyotomi Toshina- ga no zu and sealed Dainen. Traces of age. Provenance: Private collection from Southern Germany. Kinoshita Toshinaga was the 3rd feudal lord of the Hiji clan of the Bungo province, the Kyûshû branch of the lineage of Toyotomi Hideyoshi of the Tokugawa shogunate. Jh. 96,5 × 28,5 cm. Zwei Hängerollen, Tusche auf Papier. Ein Paar Kalligraphien in bokuseki Stil der Zen-Mönche, eine signiert Kôgetsu kaku und gesiegelt. Beschriftete Doppel-Holzbox, datiert Taishô 6 (1917) und signiert ‚Murasakino‘ (Kenshô Sôhan, 1848-1922, Abt des Daitokuji). Knickfalten, min. rest. (2) Provenienz: Alte süddeutsche Privatsammlung. TWO HANGING SCROLLS WITH CALLIGRAPHIES BY KOGETSU SOGAN (1574–1643). Japan, 17th c. 96.5 × 28.5 cm. Ink on paper. Painted in the bokuseki style of the Zen monks. One work is signed Kôgetsu kaku and seals, the other sealed. Inscribed woo- den box, dated Taishô 6 (1917) and signed ‚Murasakino‘ (Kenshô Sôhan, 1848, abbot of the Daitoku Temple). Tusche auf Papier. Reduzierte, mit schwungvoller Pinselführung ausgeführte Malerei, die einen Flaschenkürbis (hyôtan) erahnen lässt, mit Gedichten ergänzt. Signiert und zweifach gesiegelt. Als Hängerolle montiert. Holzbox. Provenienz: Alte süddeutsche Privatsammlung. A ZEN PAINTING DEPICTING A HYOTAN (BOTTLE GOURD). Japan, 19th/20th c. 124.2 × 25.5 cm. Ink on paper.
