Variation des Buddha mit hochgestecktem Haarkno- ten in einer weniger bekannten Form als Taizokai (Mutterschoss-Welt) Dainichi, die Hände in hokkai jôin (Meditationsmudra des Dharma-Reiches) im Schoss haltend. Leichte Risse. Provenienz: Alte Schweizer Privatsamm- lung aus dem Tessin. A SEATED LACQUER FIGURE OF DAINICHI NYORAI. Japan, 18th/19th c. Height 75 cm, figure 42 cm. Wood with gold and black lacquer, the eyes inlaid. The Buddha with the hair set in a high topknot is shown in a less common form known as the Taizokai (Womb World) Dainichi, with both hands in the lap in the hokkai jôin (meditation mudra of the Dhar- ma-realm). Holz mit Gold- über Schwarzlack, Augen, urna und ushnisha sind in Glas ein- gelegt. Die Figur des Amida Buddha zeichnet sich durch einen erhabenen Gesichtsausdruck mit fast geschlosse- nen Augenlidern aus. Die Hände ruhen in mida no jôin (Meditationsmudra) im Schoss. Wood with gold and black lacquer, the eyes, urna and ushnisha inlaid in glass. Buddha figure with serene facial expression and half-closed eyelids, hands on lap in mida no jôin (medita- tion mudra).
