Height 50 cm Wood with gold over black lacquer and red lac- quer, the eyes are inlaid. Fine depiction of the life-prolonging bodhisattva (Enmei Jizô bosatsu) on a double lotus pedestal above a stepped base with wish-fulfilling pearl (nyoi no tama) and pilgrim‘s staff. Three parts. Holz, dunkel und hell gefasst und mit Resten von Goldbemalung sowie Gold- über Schwarzlack, die Augen sind eingelegt. Auf einem assortierten, doppel- ten Lotossockel über rechteckiger Basis sitzender Mönch, beide Hände die Ge- betskette haltend. Zweiteilig. Min. besch. Provenienz: Alte Schweizer Privatsamm- lung aus dem Tessin. A WOOD FIGURE OF A MONK. Japan, Edo period, 19th c. Height 25 cm, figure 12 cm. Painted in dark and light colours with remains of gold painting, eyes inlaid. Seated on an assorted, double lotus base, wearing voluminous robes, both hands holding a string of prayer beads.
