A SAYA (SHEATH) THREE-CASE INRO Japan, Meiji period, H 6 cm. Buddhist precious objects in gold makie and clou- dy nashiji on a black lacquer ground (roiro) adorn the outer case. Dekoriert in gold-, silber-, und schwarzem hira- und takamakie mit einem Reiter und seinem Gefolgsmann sowie einem Gelehrten, der unter der Kiefer angelt. Signiert Shokasai. Mit kugelförmigem, korallenfarbenem ojime, das Netsuke aus Bein und war wohl ursprünglich der Deckel eines tonkotsu (Tabak-Behälter). A FOUR-CASE GOLD LACQUER INRO Japan, 19th c. H 9 cm. Decorated in gold, silver and black hira- and takamakie with a horseman and his attendant beside a river bank, a scholar fishing under a pine tree. Signed Shokasai.
