The 10-part series „Ladies & Gentlemen“

was produced in 1975 and was based on

Andy Warhol’s photographs. It depicts mo-

dels who regularly visited the Gilded Grape

night club in New York City.

As in the series „Mick Jagger“ made in the

same year, Warhol plays with various pro-

files and facial expressions. The faces look

almost as though they are assemblages

of individual displaced images, with Warhol

having printed different areas of colour

over the portraits, which, however, give the

faces a certain expression and make them

unique. In addition, they skilfully reinforce

the poses adopted by the models.
