Still lifes are to be found throughout
Lichtenstein’s oeuvre, but in the early 1970s in
a small series he dedicated himself explicitly to
this subject and explicated and examined the
various types of still life. Shortly beforehand,
and not as part of this series, but closely rela-
ted to it, the present sheet was produced.
Lichtenstein produced it for the portfolio
„Hommage à Picasso“, which appeared in 6
volumes, with the work of 69 artists. Lichten-
stein appears alongside Max Bill, JimDine, Allen
Jones, Henry Moore, and others, in the fourth
volume.
